Footpaths, highways, street lighting and other environmental issues
The Parish Council has a role in reporting defects and issues concerning pavements, roads, street lights, public footpaths and road signs. The Parish Council can voice your concerns and try and ensure that matters are dealt with as soon as possible.
The Parish Council has taken an active role in the recent environmental planning of upgrades at the Snarrows sewage treatment works.
The Parish Council has worked in the past with the operators of the former nightclub and the police to minimise impact on residents and businesses.
The Parish Council also has representation on the Association of Airport Related Parish Councils which works with the airport to minmise noise and air pollution and ease traffic congestion.
Liasing with the Police
There is a specific Police agenda item at each meeting but the beat or community officer cannot always attend. When present, they will report on any crimes or incidents in the parish and are available to listen to issues raised by the Parish Council or members of the public.
The Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator also works closely with the Police and reports back any news or issuss to the council meeting.
